My name is Marc Dease and I live with my wife Karen in beautiful Point Edward, Ontario. Our daughter Carleigh has finally flown the coop however our son Craig still lives at home. Our youngest son Brock attends the University of Windsor. I am relatively new at railroad photography. My other hobbies are US and Canadian lake freighter photography and airliner photography both of which have captured my interest for over 30 years. I am currently using a Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor 18-300mm lens. Go LEAFS Go.

Having dropped a cut of cars at the Cargill Elevator, CN 4798 with CN 4770 head back to CN Sarnia yard along the Point Edward Spur while the 71 year old, 1953 built SAGINAW shifts unloading positions at the City Dock in Sarnia, ON.

To the best of my knowledge every new VIA Siemens GenSet has passed through Sarnia, ON., eastbound on the Strathroy Sub. Yesterday, September 3, 2024, VIA 2211/2311 operating as VIA 331 did a test run along the aforementioned sub terminating in Sarnia. Here we see her at Brigden Side Road over taking train 301. Upon arrival the train was wyed and the crew was off for required rest and then back on duty around 01:30 to take the train operating as VIA 334 back eastbound.

Train 301 approaches Wanstead west bound with CN 3161 as a solo leader and CN 3893 as a DPU. Train 385 is tied down on the south track awaiting the puller crew to take the train into Sarnia, ON.

IC 2466 the only active "Blue Devil" leads train 509 back to London, ON., from Sarnia. I've seen 509 come into Sarnia with less than 10 cars before but seeing this lash up came into Sarnia as light power which is a first for me.

My mission on this hot summer night was to catch the 1943 built M/V MISSISSAGI discharging a load of stone in Sombra, ON. Upon arrival I grabbed my camera and stepped out of the car and was immediately swarmed by about 1000 blood thirsty mosquitoes. Mission aborted and I started heading home to Point Edward via HWY 40. As I crested the overpass by NOVA's Corunna Site there was switcher NCLX 2003 bathed in light and all done for the night. I couldn't pass up this opportunity so I pulled over and set up for a few shots and thankfully there no mosquitos.

A nice overnight snowfall brightens up the day as IC 2700 and CN 2005 lead train 148 east out of Sarnia, ON.

A strange turn of events today in Sarnia gave me the opportunity to catch one these EMD SD70ACe T4 Demonstrators leading although technically it is the trailing unit. X149 was held at Camlachie Sideroad because its power (IC 2458 and CN 2507) were not PTC equipped so they were not allowed to lead into the US. X149 came in light power and was swapped with what I believe was 482's power which is the EMDX 7201 Demo and CN 3200. So far these Demonstrator units have not led that I know of and today was no exception as this power had to wyed before being taken back out to lead X149 with the CN 3200 leading. Here they make their way around the west leg of the wye in Sarnia. Despite the dreary conditions these units sure stick out.
